Using a Glaze: Mixed Media Tip

Mixed Media Tip: Using a Glaze

I painted this background using Liquitex Acrylic Inks for a mixed media project I’m working on. I like the colors, but think that they may be a little too bright and need to relate to each other better.

Painted Background

I decide to add an earthy colored glaze to tone down the colors and make them blend better with each other. I mix some yellow oxide acrylic ink with water and brush several coats over the whole background.

Adding glaze

Here is the background after glazing. The effect is subtle but matches my vision for the project.
