I’m adding a new category of designs in my shop. These patterns feature digital versions of doodles from my art journals.
Cubism was founded by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. This art style emphasizes flat shapes and ignores traditional perspective. My design is inspired by Synthentic Cubism, which features simple overlapping shapes and brilliant colors.
The Memphis Group formed in 1981 in Milan, Italy. Their designs were a post-modern reaction against the clean lines of modernism. This radical and outrageous style blended design traits of 1950s kitsch, Art Deco, and Pop Art.
Some characteristics of Memphis design include:
- asymmetrical shapes
- circles, triangles, and other geometric shapes
- bright neon, primary and pastel colors
- bold, repetitive patterns
Below is my try at creating a Memphis style design.
