I’ve been using my art journal to document the Covid-19 pandemic. I’m finding that being creative has been the best therapy for these anxious times.
Here is the step-by-step process of creating a Flatten the Curve spread.
Using images of the graph from online as a reference, I sketched these basic outlines.
I chose some washi tape that had graph-like designs to create the axes and to cover the space of the higher curve.
Because washi tape is transparent I was able to run an x-acto kifr along the edge of the curve. I was careful not to press too hard and cut the journal page, a gentle touch is enough. Then I could peal away the tape outside the curve.
I chose a washi tape with contrasting colors to fill the flattened curve.
After I cut and trimmed the tape, I used a black brush marker to outline the curves.
I added doodles to some of the lines. I thought about stopping here, but decided the curves could use some doodles also.
The finished journal spread of an artistically enhanced flatten the curve graph.
