To create this art journal spread, I tore a magazine photo into strips and glued them to the pages. Then I used a black pen and a white pen to doodle a pattern across the page.
While I was creating the doodles, I planned to stop at this stage. But when I was finished, I took a close look at the design and decided it needed something more. The pattern across the page seemed too uniform. I wanted it to have more contrast.
So I filled in the white circles and added more lines to the white pattern. Although the difference is subtle, this version has more contrast and visual interest. I’m happy that I made the changes.
